Sara slept soundly. 12:30 AM. 1:00 AM. 1:13...1:14 AM. Immediately jolted awake by the reality of school. Her big silver belled alarm immediately shot into action, clanging and chiming.
She rolled onto her stomach and crawled to the ladder on her bunk bed. She had a sister yes, but she didn't need a bunk bed, her sister had her own room.
She walked draggily to her alarm and flicked the off switch so as not to wake anyone else up. Grabbing her school junk she walked into the living room.
It was bathed in a bluish glow. All the lights were off except the ghastly glowing computer. Apparently her brother Sara flicked the kitchen light on and dove onto the sofa. Grabbing the remote she turned it on and pressed 2-9-6 Cartoon Network.
To her dismay there was no Fooly Cooly on. They hadn't shown it for three months, but Inuyasha was on and it was another Anime show but she really wanted to see Fooly Cooly or Cowboy Bebop.
"Oh well," she sighed juggiling the computer mouse as to actively wake the computer. She clicked the General User account and typed in "soccer". Her dad had made that stupid password.
Once logged in, after clicking ok on the "Kazaa software is not fully installed error:8867ph9, she clicked the Aol IM icon to see if any buddies were on. To further dismay all who were on were the computer buddies she had.
She choose over sending stupid messages to Smarterchild she clicked the internet explorer icon and went to Casey's website. There were new posts and she replied then were to HPRPG.TK's boards. She replied to what posts she had gotten then yawned and rubbed her eyes.
She exited and logged off then went to the chair and watched TV. Captain Planet was on, she changed the channel to 5-0-6 and thank god Bio-Dome was on.
She gathered her stuff and looked at the clock 5:00 AM. One hour and 6 minutes till she had to catch her bus. She sat and watched Bio-Dome then ended up watching Winnie the Pooh in desperation.
6:00 AM. Just what she was waiting for. She looked down; she once again had slept in her clothes. She reached for her shoes and pulled the socks out of them. She sniffed the socks and decided that they had been worn enough and reached for a fresh pair of New Balance socks.
By this time the Midget dog was in the Hall and Amber was taking a shower. She slung on her coat and grabbed her trumpet then trudged out the door her head phones blaring over her ears.
She reached the bust stop and waited in the cold. Finally after what felt 20 minutes the bus pulled the corner. After making the final stop at Katie's house the bus reached school.
"God do I hate this place," Sara said to Amy and Car later in the tuning line. She stole a glance at Christian and Chuck, 1st and 2nd trumpet players then she glared at Tyler Gates. "He doesn't even play, why the hell he's in band I'll never know." Her eyes lingered on Christian. Second chair trumpet, seventh grader and extremely hot. He was funny and nice, if only she'd get up the courage to talk to him.
She went to sit down and practice Balladair when Mr. Lopresto called the band to a halt. Sara, Amy and Car swore that Mr. Lopresto was gay so the normally referred to him as Mrs. Lopresto.
After several minutes of lectures the band warmed up and finally played. 33 minutes later the bell rang and band was dismissed.
Sara put away her instrument. Chair and stand then walked to the art room. Home room 29 with Mrs. Meyer what a joy.
She kept her chair up till the third bell just to annoy everyone as usual then sat. Pledge pledge pledge. She hated it, stand a pledge your allegiance to America every day, she'd rather pledge to Canada. Canada rules!
Walking to Gym she ran into five people.
"Floor hockey," she said in her mind placing her goggles on her head, "What rubbish, this sucks." She walked slowly from the girls' locker room just in time to hear the bell halfway through the hall. But she didn't care she'd been tardy before.
When the bell finally rang she ran up the stairs and to her locker, it was good to finally be out of the popular girl’s midst. ‘Only three periods until lunch,’ she thought carrying her books to room 21 where’d she sit for 120 minutes listening to the wolf drone on about social studies then math, this is how it was every day.
Time passed slowly as she droned about Rome and then fractions for the fourth year in a row. When at last the fateful last seconds arrived she stared longingly at the clock. Five…four…three…two…one, the bell set off and she rushed out the door. She heard several names on the announcements but none said Sara Smasal so she was good.
She met up with Amy and Car then they went to lunch. After grabbing her lunch and paying she walked to the table and sat next to Jon. “Does Paula have choir today Jon?” she asked actually quite happily of not being squished between Amy and Paula.
“Yeah I think so, it is Thursday,” Jon replied biting his sandwich and immediately spiting it back out. “Turkey! Of all the days for me to grab my sister’s turkey sandwich!” I half laughed at my ex boyfriend.
He was my ex for two reasons. He was my boyfriend in Kindergarten through fourth grade, best of best friends we were until we noted what normal boyfriends and girlfriends and then we decided it wouldn’t last, the only date we’d actually been on was a play date and it wasn’t what you’d call a date. Secondly, we found it wrong to be interrelating in our group.
Our group was a wide variety of people and it consisted of mainly band people, or previously band or soccer people. There was Sara, Amy, Carissa, Jon, Paula, Sarah, Joey, Abbi, and Nats. Somehow all these people either knew someone else for a long time or just met a friend of one of their friends.
Standing outside, Sara spotted AJ with Joey. She walked over to him and gave him a hard punch on the arm. “How many times AJ, will I have to punch you until you get the picture?!”<br>“Man!” he said tauntingly. He always called Sara as a man just to see how hard she’d punch him.
“Damnit AJ!” she gave him a sharp left hook followed by a quick right jab to his gut then walked away.
She then looked over at Nick. Nick and Christian were top competitors for her crush. Nick was a sixth grader that had beaten her in the chess tournament and knocked her into the second division but man was he hot. She didn’t know his last name but she knew he was in her soccer club. Christian Grantham was the second chair trumpet and he was just as hot only one year older.
